huge and sudden FPS drops

  • so, running game smoothly on ultra graphics, no problems whatsoever. in large battles, small battles, my pc doesnt seem to care..

sometimes however, the game itself seems so mess up horribly with high fps drops and random freezes. the last 10 times i have died was because of this random lag that shouldnt really be there, since theres nothing wrong with the pc im playing on.

i found that a few others are experiencing the same thing. anyone with a solution? i tried dimming down my graphics abit to see if it helped. but didnt. money back or a fix please :>

    • Same issue here.  Can play the game fine 60 fps, but certain spots in the game I'll have a sudden drop to 30 fps.  I dont drop 5 or 10 fps, its a sudden drop to 30.  I can adjust the setting from medium to ultra and same thing happens.

    • Same thing here too, the other day I didn't had any problems what so ever. Today when I wanted to show my friends how awesome this game is I suddenly got huge fps drop. After a reboot it seemed fine, but then 10 minutes later the same issue occured. Playing with a 760 2048MB Nvidia card

    • I'm having the same problem, I just want to know, did you guys pay for your copy?

    • Might perhaps be related to V-Sync?

    • Same problem, always turn to 30 FPS out of the blue, no matter what setting.

    • Same problem, I can easily run it on high but I get these random fps drops, it is not my pc because it does the same thing on the lowest settings

    • I have the exact same thing. Huge battles are fine, even in the rain. Ill list the fps drops below that i always encounter no matter what graphics i have it set on.

      1. Wraith mode. I noticed that everytime i hit wraith mode in a medium size battle, the fps spikes like a boss. from 60 to 30 and then back up again.

      2. branding. I noticed whenever i brand an orc and have about 10 on my side, normally near a campfire, my fps will spike once again to 30 and jump around from there (especially a mini battle going on)... so weird ;(

      3. the second map i noticed more spikes than the first.

So i figure its got to do with the wraith mode and abilities. that dam blue light fucks my fps up... anyone experiencing the same?? ;D

    • hello everyone.. something worked for me so I thot i will share with u.

Go into the VIDEO settings..Not the ADVANCE SETTING.. Check the resolution..  for me it was 3000Xsomething... i moved it back to 1920 and vola everything is back to normal. I wasted 6 hours on trying to fix this.. hope it helps.

I have 770 ... works perfect on everything max...

    • For me limiting the fps on 60 helped A LOT!

    • 1. Open your Nvidia Control Panel. Not Geforce Experience, Nvidia Control Panel. Type it into your start menu's "search programs and files" bar if you have to and start it from there.

      2. Select "Manage 3D settings" in the side bar, then click the "Program Settings" tab.

      3. Click "Add", find the Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor program, and select it for customization.

      4. Once selected, scroll down the feature list until you find the "Vertical Sync" setting near the bottom. Change it to "Adaptive". Just straight-up Adaptive. This will activate the Nvidia-exclusive Adaptive Vsync on your GPU, which should be what fixes your issue.

      5. Click "Apply", then close out of Nvidia Control Panel. Start up Shadow of Mordor and turn off the game's regular Vsync. This last one is important, you might have issues if you leave it on.

With that, you should be done, and your slowdowns should be fixed.

I'm trying to do that but there are only 2 options- on or off.

    • I had the same issue on my laptop but suddenly was fixed as soon as I plugged in the power adapter, I then unplugged it and it went back to 30 fps.

    • Change Texture Quality settings to your amount of vram.

      6GB+ vram for ultra.

      3~4GB+ vram for High.

      etc.
