The Song of Durin is a poem written by J.R.R. Tolkien, first appearing in The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the RIng, being sung by Gimli. It details the history of the Dwarves of Middle-earth in the time of Durin.

In Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, the song is sung by Torvin, in the first hunting mission with him, while he and Talion are mounted upon Caragors hunting Uruk in Núrn. The rest of the song is left unfinished by Torvin as the mission continues however.

Lyrics[]

The world was young, the mountains green,
No stain yet on the Moon was seen,
No words were laid on stream or stone
When Durin woke and walked alone.
He named the nameless hills and dells;
He drank from yet untasted wells;
He stooped and looked in Mirrormere,
And saw a crown of stars appear.
